Artist Statement:
Today, I finished my final assignment and project in Digital Media. Although it is my last official project on in design, it acts as a final wrap-up to the overall class, looking over the work I’ve done during the semester. As well as helping everyone for their future who would like to use this project as a future portfolio to send to jobs. The strict restrictions on what’s allowed and what’s not for the portfolio help to create a professional-looking portfolio that is good enough for jobs to see during or before an interview. We first sketched what our portfolio should look like, adding enough pages for all our projects and extra pages for any other work that the artist would like to put in. Once looking for either a free template to use or an all-original idea for the template, next comes the color scheme and color palette, which needed to be used efficiently with a color wheel (Adobe Color) and a selection of fonts that would match well with the esthetic without having too many to make it look wonky. Once this was done, the second part of the project would be creating it.
I used a template (credit given above) and changed a few pages to align with what I would be putting on the pages. Once downloaded onto In Design, I changed the template to my liking using my sketches from the first part of this project. Then, from here, all I did was mess around with the formats, putting in the embedded files of the past projects and text from their past blog posts, making it easy for me to create. The design I was hoping to go for was a straightforward yet easy-to-look portfolio to keep a professional look, even keeping the colors simple and professional. Once the pages were edited, I checked spelling and spacing and ensured the text boxes and images were correctly formatted. Then, I simply packaged my files and downloaded the JPEG images of each page in the portfolio. Once submitted, I was officially considered done with Digital Media. Although the portfolio does not scream any deeper meaning like some of the other projects do, it was very nice to look back at all I have done this semester and put them all together for a portfolio that can be used in the future for any job!.
