Today, I can finally say that I've created my first animation using Adobe Photoshop. Although it may not seem like a complicated animation, it did take a couple of hours to master how it works and how to produce it, even at the lowest stage, to create a simple GIF. We first started this two weeks ago, where we had to draw a storyboard for the movements and motions that our GIF would make. I didn't have any inspiration for my eye animation or why I created a story where the eye gets sad after losing its eyebrow. But I also wanted to showcase the movement of the eye and the pupil to show that I had learned enough skills to make a nice gif. Yes, it could be smoother, and I have much to learn, but for my first ever, I enjoyed the process. After creating the look of my animation, I first used Illustrator to create the shapes of the eye, which I then exported to Photoshop to begin using the timeline feature. In Photoshop, I then took a couple hours to map out each movement, putting them back to back in the timeline and slowing down some of the movements so that the actual GIF would tell a story instead of speeding off too quick through the movements. Once that was over, I used a blank timeline for my tag brush, which I animated through the screen to the next animated screen, which reads the name of my animation along with my class and the term. Then, all I had to do from there was create a quick animated end scene and export it as a gif.

This assignment wasn't something that was fueled by things that have happened in my life. Instead, it was just the power of my imagination. See, this assignment, unlike the others, was really a blank slate; I didnt have much inspiration because I didnt want to steal ideas or borrow ideas from other gifs; instead, I wanted it to be different than the rest. I wanted to do this because I wanted an eye that conveys emotion without needing a smile or other features. To show the eye being sad, confused, and shocked when it saw its missing eyelashes was really what I was aiming for. Obviously, it's not going to look realistic on its own, but to convey the motion of the drawn-out figures of the eye to convey emotion is what takes this project to the next level in my eyes.
