Today, I have finally completed my first project on the third Adobe program we are using in class, Adobe Indesign. The assignment itself was simple. The assignment we had to do was to create a postcard for a city that will be directly in the path of the solar eclipse. First, I had to pick a town. I chose Buffalo, New York, mainly because New York is my home state, so it makes sense to choose that as my postcard. First, we were told to find a JPEG image or create an image in Adobe Photoshop for the postcard's background. I made a cool-looking background using Photoshop. I found stock-free photos for download and used images that translated to the eclipse and pictures of the city of Buffalo. Once the design was created, I went into design to start the actual postcard.
When I first went into InDesign, I followed the directions for the layout, having both sides of the postcard rectangle-shaped. I then put my created background onto the actual postcard for both sides. From there, I made a text box and put another rectangle filled with the color white across the front of the postcard, where I then used the text box to tell where the location was and what it was for. Once that was created, I did the second side, where I put another rectangle, filling it with white and covering almost the whole back of the postcard. From there, I used the line tool to create that line in the middle of the postcard and lined it on the bottom right side to make where the text will be. From there, I used another text box for the top left side of the postcard and text effects to illustrate that the eclipse is coming to Buffalo. After that, I added my custom tag brush at the top right for the postcard stamp. I then packaged the project, finishing up my work and my postcard!
