Ai HW #1

The first video that I searched was defiantly the most interesting for me to learn because it not only helped me understand the tools but it gave good background information at the beginning of the video for what Illustrator should be used for and how to manage not just the tools which are obviously the most important but the information to create a file or workspace that pans out exactly to the project that you want to create while also explaining what a vector image is in order to shop us why vector images are best to use for the best results from this application. None of the tools seem too hard to work with it is just understanding which one does what. For example, in the video, when discussing the two selection tools, they both do two completely different jobs, but I feel it can be hard when first using this application to remember which one does a specific function over the other. But a tool that is and should be easy for anyone, especially me, is any of the shape tools. It's very easy to understand its functions, how to space them out perfectly, and what buttons to press/hold while working with them to get full efficiency. Overall, the video was a great start to understanding all the tools for future projects.

Now the second video I watched is more complex than the last video as the last video only showed a few things, while this video (created by the same person) goes very quickly into every single tool to give a little background on what each tool does, how to use it and the default shortcut button if there is one for the specific tool. The way he filmed the video, giving each tool just the right amount of time for it to register to beginners like me, really helped and actually helped more than his last video. Although it is a longer video, it is definitely more interesting to watch as he shows quick examples of using each of the tools. The tool that is not just interesting but also seems really easy to use is the lasso tool as its function would seem to really help group objects and clip marks since it's very easy to maneuver around different areas. Getting deeper into the video is when the tools start to get complicated, especially the perspective grid tool, and although it has a shortcut when needing to bring it up fast, it's more than confusing, in my opinion. The whole function of changing the sides of the grids perspective and manipulating it can be very difficult to remember, but of course, as the class goes on, I'll figure it out more and more.

For the third video, although it is the shortest video, it introduces another feature that the previous two videos don't show. What makes it interesting is that this guy decided to show the viewers the way of curvature in simple and more difficult ways. Really, the hardest part of the video is when he's showing us how to overlap the shapes and contrast them in order to create new custom shapes from the overlaying paths/lines of the previous shapes implemented from the start. Now this isn't necessarily as hard as most parts in the other videos, but it's mostly remembering that it's possible to do something like that with easy clicks and buttons, but overall looks harder than it actually is. Other than that, the rest of the video is just a simple pen tool and rectangle tool, which already was shown quickly in the other two videos, but because it's very easy to know and to use, I was able to skip most of that part of the video.
